The Michale E.
Keeling Center for Comparative Medicine and Research in Bastrop makes important
contributions to the understanding and prevention of cancer through comparative
research in animal models. This center of The University of Texas M. D. Anderson
Cancer Center both supports research scientists at M. D. Anderson and conducts
independent research to increase our understanding of the biological and
behavioral processes that lie at the heart of cancer. The Keeling Center is
recognized nationally for the high quality, specially developed animals produced
for medical research. Since the most significant advances in cancer care and
prevention have resulted from research involving laboratory animals, the work of
the Keeling Center is critical to M. D. Anderson's mission of eliminating cancer
in Texas, the nation and the world. The Michale E.
Keeling Center for Comparative Medicine and Research is grateful to Cattlemen
for Cancer Research for engaging the Central Texas community to help fund the
important cancer research conducted in Bastrop. Every year, meaningful research
projects come to life thanks to the community-spirited effort to overcome
cancer. Together with the faculty and staff of the Keeling Center, we are Making
Cancer History®. Supporting Research at the Michale E. Keeling Center for
